ENFP and ENTP: Cognitive Function Analysis
ENFP's stack is Ne-Fi-Te-Si. ENTP's stack is Ne-Ti-Fe-Si. Shared dominant Ne and shared inferior Si create profound similarities in perception: both process reality as a field of possibilities rather than concrete facts, and both neglect routine, physical maintenance, and detail-oriented follow-through. The divergence is in their judging axes. ENFP's Ne feeds into Fi — possibilities are filtered through personal values. 'Does this idea align with who I am?' ENTP's Ne feeds into Ti — possibilities are filtered through logical frameworks. 'Does this idea hold up under scrutiny?' This difference surfaces when they need to decide. ENFP commits to the option that feels most authentic. ENTP commits to the option that is most logically sound. Neither approach is wrong, but they can talk past each other at decision points. ENFP's tertiary Te gives them some capacity for external organization that ENTP lacks (ENTP's tertiary Fe gives them some social attunement that ENFP's Fi doesn't naturally provide). In theory, ENFP handles logistics while ENTP handles social navigation — but both functions are tertiary, meaning neither type executes them reliably.
