Myers-Briggs refers to Isabel Briggs Myers and her mother, Katharine Cook Briggs. They developed the assessment from Carl Jung's theory of psychological types to make ideas about personality preferences usable in everyday life.

Type refers to a combination of preferences. Indicator means the assessment suggests a preference pattern from your answers; it does not award a grade. There are no correct answers or better personality types.

The letters in a type code come from four preference pairs. Each pair describes a different aspect of how a person tends to engage with the world. People can use both sides; a preference is a tendency rather than a rule for every situation.

INFP combines Introversion, Intuition, Feeling, and Perceiving. The N represents Intuition because I is already used for Introversion. Choosing one letter from each of the four pairs produces 16 possible combinations.

An INFP code does not mean someone is always quiet, cannot use logic, or never makes plans. It provides a starting vocabulary for preferences. Check a type description against repeated experiences rather than expecting every sentence to fit.

Type language can help people discuss communication, learning, and work preferences. For example, two colleagues may prefer different amounts of time to reflect before a discussion, even when both can contribute well.

A type code does not measure intelligence, ability, or professional competence. It is not a clinical diagnosis or a reliable basis for selecting employees or deciding whether a relationship should continue.
