Type 2 and Type 8: Center Dynamics and Arrows
The Two belongs to the heart triad, driven by the need to be loved. The Eight belongs to the body triad, driven by the need for autonomy and control. Their arrow connection is bidirectional and growth-oriented: the Two integrates toward Eight, developing assertiveness and self-advocacy. The Eight integrates toward Two, developing tenderness and generosity. This means each type's healthiest version looks increasingly like the other — a powerful basis for mutual respect when both are growing. Under stress, the Two moves to Four (withdrawn, self-absorbed) and the Eight moves to Five (isolated, secretive). Both stress directions involve withdrawal, which means that when this couple is under pressure, both partners may simultaneously retreat — creating a dangerous communication blackout during the moments when connection is most needed.
